The holidays can be an incredibly stressful time of year. As we enter 2022, we’re already left wondering how we can possibly keep with our resolutions.
Instead of looking at one big goal, here are 10 ways to help improve your overall life in the new year.
- Continue Educating Yourself
Studies have shown that those with education live longer, healthier, and happier lives. Continuing your education with affordable online courses is a great way to spruce up your resume while stretching yourself and your capabilities.
- Get a Library Card
Reading is a wonderful way for a person to heal and grow. However, you might not want to create clutter in your home with an excess of books.
Going to your local library and signing up for a card is a great way to start diving into another world and expanding your knowledge.
- Sign Up for a Marathon
Maybe it doesn’t necessarily have to be a marathon, but signing up for an event sometime throughout the year is a means of holding yourself accountable.
Think about a goal you’ve been wanting to achieve. Sign up for something that could incentivize you to make small strides towards that goal.
- Practice Daily Gratitude
Did you know that practicing gratitude releases the same endorphins which are connected to emotions of joy?
Buy yourself a notebook. Each night before bed, reflect on the day and write down a few things you’re grateful for.
- Learn Little Known Facts
Even the smallest things can change your life. Test yourself to learn something new every day you didn’t know before.
For instance, you’d be surprised to know that dialing 112 will direct you to the nearest helpline if you ever run into a situation where you’re traveling internationally and need immediate assistance.
- Let Go of Bad Habits
Whether it’s as small as biting your nails or as big as needing to cut back on drinking, we all have vices that could be removed from our lives.
Try cutting back or removing these bad habits and start replacing them with healthy alternatives.
- Trust Your Gut
Sometimes making improvements in your life starts by learning how to trust yourself. Intuition can be incredibly powerful. Learning to trust and follow your intuition is even more powerful.
If something is calling on you, follow it. You never know what incredible and life-changing thing it could lead you towards.
- Declutter Weekly
Spring will be here before you know it, but you don’t have to wait until then to start cleaning. Every week, spend a little time decluttering.
Create a donation pile of unnecessary items you’re lugging around from one apartment to the next. Eventually, your house will be clean and minimized for a more calming environment.
- Create a Vision Board
This is a fun project you can do by yourself or get together with friends to create. A vision board is a way to put all of your dreams into one visual representation of what you hope to achieve.
Think both short-term and long-term. This way, you can hang it up and always have your goals prominently in front of you.
- Change Your Mindset
Most importantly, if you want to improve your life this year, you have to change your mindset. There is no way you’re going to be able to achieve even the smallest of goals if you’re already thinking negatively about them.
Setting yourself up for a successful year doesn’t mean you have to have a laundry list of things you need to change or one giant goal to work towards. It starts by making small changes throughout your daily life to start living the way you want.
