Water Animals Dipped in Adorable Embroidery Medallions by Megan Zaniewski

Welcome to the wonderful art by Megan Zaniewski – the thread-painting embroidery. An art form that’s getting more and more popular, like an old song that has been just discovered again. Using a needle and a thread to “paint” medallions with stunning yet delightful water animals makes Megan one of a kind. She’s a self-taught hand embroidery artist from the USA, specialized in realistic thread paintings and stumpwork techniques. Earlies Megan did embroideries of insects as well, with a technique that made their wings stick out of frame. Megan shared that she gets inspired by her children that see the world through different eyes than adults do. No wonder her art feels so charming and innocent. “I frequently observed geese and ducks at a nearby pond, and I considered how our view of them is often limited to what is visible above the surface”, Megan explained. “We see only half the picture. I wanted to explore the challenge of embroidering these birds and other aquatic animals moving in the water and share a whimsical view of the often unseen world below the water’s surface.“
