Maybe some of you remember Aniko Kolesnikova, the Latvian designer-artist, working under the name Mandarin Duck, specializes in creating dragon-, animal-, bird-, fantasy-, and nature-inspired polymer journals. We first found out about her in an article Bored Panda published in May 2015. Well, believe it or not, this article changed her life and make her dreams come true. In only one day Aniko gained thousands and thousands of new likes, e-mails, questions, requests, interviews, reposts on other viral websites and in one-two week’s time she was booked for the next six months upfront to make clay journals and jewelry for all those wonderful people who saw her on Bored Panda and appreciated her work. She quit her day job in a Fashion Studio, where she worked as a photo retoucher almost instantly after that successful publication and never looked back. Aniko graduated as an interior designer and architect’s assistant and straight after that, she moved to London. As she says, she only used her educational skills during her studies and worked in a few interior design and architecture companies but it never fascinated her, so as soon as she graduated, she never came back to my primary profession, like ever. Her dreams laid elsewhere – in making beautiful and most importantly meaningful things for other people and now she’s living that dream and we can’t be more happy for her. Take your time and read this girl’s blog, it’s an admirable story, visit her website and Instagram page for more art and then pick your favorite piece and order it on Etsy.
