Kristina Makeeva Visits Socotra Island – Real-Life Wonderland

To find more photos, more videos, and more information about this gorgeous heavenly place make sure to visit Makeeva’s famous Instagram profile. But before you go, let us retell you a bit of the story here on Curious Doodle. We all know who super talented Kristina Makeeva is, but today we’re talking more about the place she had visited this year. The place is Socotra Island and its magnificence is protected being a part of UNESCO’s World Heritage List. One of the most isolated islands of non-volcanic origin, Socotra was separated from Africa 6 million years ago. Yemeni-owned island rests in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Somalia. Unique flora and fauna lives due to very specific climate, intense summers, seasonal monsoons, and very different climate-wise mountainous regions. Socotra is famous for its Dragon tree, which is also the symbol of the island. Dragon tree is the one you see in the photos below looking like a giant mushroom and locals have been using its bark for medical and cosmetic purposes. So many things to experience on this heavenly island! “Most of all, I liked the kilometer-long dunes on the shores of the azure Indian Ocean, puffer fish, and bottle trees blooming like sakura,” Makeeva wrote.

When Makeeva visits a place, in most cases it’s one of the most beautiful spots on Earth.
